Job Summary:

The Designer/Drafter is responsible for preparing detailed electrical and structural drawings, schematics, and layouts to support engineering and field service projects. This role translates conceptual designs and technical information into accurate CAD drawings and models that comply with industry standards, client specifications, and company procedures. The Designer/Drafter works closely with engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and practical for installation and construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and revise CAD drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams for electrical power systems projects.
  • Prepare substation layouts, panel layouts, conduit/cable schedules, grounding plans, and related design documents.
  • Collaborate with engineers to translate design concepts into accurate, constructible drawings.
  • Maintain drawing databases, version control, and project documentation per company standards.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, compliance with client specifications, and adherence to industry standards (ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NETA, etc.).
  • Assist in preparing bills of materials (BOMs), drawing packages, and documentation for client submittals.
  • Support field teams with design clarifications and redline updates during project execution.
  • Ensure all designs comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings to coordinate design deliverables and timelines.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors/vendors to resolve design issues.
  • Provide drafting support for proposals, as-builts, and record documentation.
  • Assist with quality control checks to ensure accuracy and constructability of drawings.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Drafting/Design, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of design or CAD drafting experience, ideally in power/utility, substation, or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD software (Revit experience a plus).
  • Familiarity with electrical one-lines, schematics, and civil/structural layouts.
  • Familiarity with power distribution, substation design, or industrial electrical systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of utility codes and standards, (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NETA) and relevant codes is strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally (drawing sets, laptops, equipment).
  • Ability to move about in office and field environments, including navigating client facilities, construction sites, and substations when required.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, walk across uneven terrain, and stand for extended periods during site visits.
  • Manual dexterity to operate drafting tools, computer equipment, and office machinery.
  • Visual acuity to read and produce detailed technical drawings and documents.

  • Job Summary:

  • We are seeking an experienced Transfer Switch Technician with strong knowledge of automatic transfer switches (ATS), manual transfer switches (MTS) and related power control equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of transfer switch systems to ensure reliable operation in critical power environments such as hospitals, data centers, and industrial facilities.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance testing and commissioning of transfer switches and related power distribution equipment.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, functional testing, and troubleshooting of automatic transfer switches and controls.

  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, replacing or repairing faulty components as needed.

  • Work with generator systems, switchgear, and power monitoring systems to ensure seamless power transfer.

  • Perform routine maintenance and commissioning of electrical equipment such as circuit breakers, switchgear, power transformers, instrument transformers, relays, etc.

Qualifications:

Job Summary

The Senior Protection & Controls Field Engineer is responsible for providing expert-level substation protection and control design, engineering, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and technical support across a wide range of utility and industrial projects. This includes medium- and high-voltage substations, battery energy storage systems, and solar collector substations. The role combines leadership of technical teams, hands-on field work, project management, and client engagement to deliver safe, cost-effective, and high-quality services.

 

The incumbent will lead and mentor engineers and technicians, serve as the technical authority for P&C systems, perform responsible-charge engineering duties, and ensure project deliverables meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Technical Oversight

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary technical team of engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Provide technical direction, training, and development for junior staff and drafters/designers.
  • Support business development through proposal input, client presentations, and technical expertise.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and quality control processes.

Design & Engineering

  • Develop and refine P&C designs including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
  • Design protection schemes for bus, line, capacitor, and transformer equipment including relay settings.
  • Specify and design SCADA communication systems and substation layouts.
  • Write engineering specifications and implement them in project deliverables.

Field Testing, Commissioning & Maintenance

  • Perform and/or oversee acceptance testing, commissioning, and maintenance of substation equipment including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, power cables, grounding systems, and associated P&C systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and control system issues during installation and operation.
  • Conduct relay functional testing, end-to-end testing, and system integration checks.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, NETA, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed test reports, as-built documentation, and compliance records.

Quality Control & Problem Solving

  • Develop and apply quality control checklists for P&C design and field execution.
  • Review project deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
  • Modify designs to resolve issues discovered during construction or commissioning.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in protection & controls engineering, with at least 2+ years in field testing/commissioning of medium- to high-voltage systems.
  • NETA Level III or IV certification (required).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred).
  • Experience in utility, renewable energy, and industrial substation projects (preferred).
  • Familiarity with multiple client design standards and project management methodologies (preferred).
  • Proficiency with industry-standard testing equipment and engineering software (preferred).
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of substation protection principles, SCADA systems, and substation design/construction practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Design

  • Perform structural analysis and design of foundations, steel structures, concrete, and equipment supports for substations, transmission lines, and related facilities.

  • Conduct site grading, drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control design.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI, NESC, local building codes).

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 8 - 10+ years of civil/structural engineering experience in the power/utility industry (substations, transmission, renewable energy, or industrial facilities).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAP2000, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, NESC, IEEE).
  • Excellent problem-solving, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Experience with EPC projects and working with utility clients.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical engineering and soil-structure interaction.

  • Proven expertise in renewable energy systems, specifically Photovoltaic (PV) and Wind power generation, including collection substation protection and control.
  • Proficient in Protective Relay Setting software: SEL acSELerator, GE EnerVista.
  • Skilled in power system study and modeling tools such as ETAP, SKM Power Tools, and ASPEN OneLiner.
  • Excellent technical communication skills, able to convey complex engineering concepts clearly and concisely in both written and spoken English.
  • Experienced in leading client-facing technical meetings and fostering collaboration between internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective in multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams
  • Highly flexible, reliable, and detail-oriented with a strong customer focus.
  • Proven ability to thrive in international and multicultural work environments.
  • Work independently, share knowledge, and drive efficient teamwork

Qualifications and Experience

  • PE License is considered an asset
  • 3- 5 Years’ experience of directly related engineering experience.
